Mamadou Lamine Diao, aka Tukkiman, is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed Senegalese singer, songwriter, and producer. His music is a mixture of Afrobeats, Assiko, Reggae, Hip Hop, and Pop. Tukki’s musical style is lush, melodic, powerful, and knows no borders. Tukkiman is an artist who creates for the sake of love, peace, equality, respect, and justice.
The new album, On The Afro, which came out January 2023, takes you on a journey through Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and back to Chicago where he lives now. Tukki has been producing Afrobeats with a foundation of Assiko, a West African urban drum and dance style he grew up playing and singing before Afrobeats became the popular worldwide genre it is today. From Assiko to Afrobeats to Amapiano to Dancehall, Tukkiman stays true to the philosophy of TUKKI which is traveling the world without borders. “Now Afrobeats has no borders. it's not just the waves, it's Africa.”
Tukkiman has recently won multiple awards for Assaman, a short film, he inspired, co-wrote, composed the music, and starred in, in collaboration with the director and co-writer, Native American artist, Katerina Brook Flores. The Assaman Project is a cosmic love story with the future, a multimodal and multidimensional immersive sensory experience bridging film, gallery, and performance.
